PTA

Abbey Catholic Primary School has an active PTA that gives parents another opportunity to get involved in the life of the school.

Our PTA organises regular events for children and families. Money raised from these events is used to support our children in providing resources or activities both inside and outside normal school hours.

Funds raised by the PTA are used for the benefit of the children.

Annually, the PTA donate funds to a grotto in the North Pole to finance the purchase of a Christmas gift for Reception and Key Stage 1 children from Santa.

The PTA donated £3000 to the school in March 2010 towards the construction and installation of a 'trim trail' in the school playground.

PTA funds have financed the purchase of a water bottle for each child in school, encouraging all children to drink water regularly throughout the day. These bottles are also for sale from the school office for £1.

The PTA arrange refreshments and the First Holy Communion Breakfast for our Year 3 children and families each year.

The work of organising the different events is carried out by the PTA committee which meets once a half term. All parents are welcome to join the PTA committee, feel free to attend one of the PTA meetings advertised in the school newsletter or contact the Chair of the PTA, Mrs A Jackson at p.ta@abbeyrc.bham.sch.uk.

All help and support preparing and running events is greatly appreciated.

Quiz Night - November 2011


A packed hall for Quiz Night.

On the evening of Friday 18th November 2011 the Abbey school hall was packed with 15 teams made up of parents and parishioners ready to compete in the twice yearly PTA quiz.

A wonderful evening was had by all. We were delighted to welcome back, ex Headteacher, Mr Tierney as quiz master.

Thank you to everyone who supported the evening. We look forward to seeing you all at the next quiz in Spring 2012.

Bags2School - November 2011


Look how many we collected!

Each term the PTA organise a Bags2School collection.

Each family are given a large plastic bag to fill with unwanted clothes and shoes. The bags are collected and school receive funds based on the weight of the bags.

Our collection in November 2011 was so well supported that the collection company had to pick up twice as the bags could not fit in one lorry!

Annual Quiz Night - June 2011


Quiz Night.

Another fabulous turn out for what has become a twice yearly event. The original Annual Quiz Night was enjoyed so much that demand resulted in quiz nights being held in both the Autumn and Summer terms.

The quiz in June 2011 was so well attended that we had to get extra tables and chairs from the Year 6 classrooms!

Thank you to all staff, families and Parishoners who supported this event. All funds raised go straight back into school. Special thanks go to Mr and Mrs Tierney our wonderful Quiz Masters.

Reindeer Food Fundraising - December 2010


Reindeer Food Fundraising.

Members of the PTA gave up their time to sell Reindeer Food to raise funds for equipment used by children at breaktimes.

Santa's Visit - December 2009


A visit from Santa.

Funds raised by the PTA enabled every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to receive a gift from Santa when he visited school in December 2009.
